Banfield Gift Supports Our Year-Round Pet Food Effort
For the third consecutive year, the Banfield Charitable Trust of Portland, Ore., has awarded a $1,000 grant to Meals On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties to support our ongoing efforts to collect dog and cat food for our clients who have pets.
Beginning in 2007, Banfield partnered with the Meals On Wheels Association of America to conduct an annual, nationwide pet food drive, dubbed "Season of Suppers." It stemmed from the observation by Meals On Wheels volunteers nationwide that clients were often sharing their meals with their pets—either because they couldn't afford pet food, or couldn't get to the store themselves to get it.
Over the past three years, Meals On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties has collected more than 14 tons of dog and cat food and distributed it to our clients with pets.
Much of the success of our collection efforts has been due to the financial support of Banfield. Their contributions have been used to publicize and conduct campaigns during the holiday season. Our goal is to expand our collection efforts so that year-round distribution is possible.
We are grateful to the Banfield Charitable Trust, and our friends at Banfield, The Pet Hospital in Jackson Township and Massillon, for their enthusiastic support.

Smucker's Supports Meals On Wheels
The J.M. Smucker Company and the Willard E. Smucker Foundation recently made a $3,000 contribution to Meals On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties, to help offset the cost of a new box truck for the agency.
The truck is being purchased as a replacement for one that broke down late in 2009. Delivery of the new truck is expected by early May.
The new truck is essential for the agency's daily deliveries of food to our sites in the two-county area. From those sites, meals are prepared for delivery to our clients.
Smucker's is an internationally known brand, headquartered in nearby Orrville, Ohio. Meals On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties delivers to five routes out of our Orrville location.
We are grateful to Smucker's and their foundation for their generous support of our mission to provide nutritious meals for homebound individuals in Stark and Wayne counties.
