Year Two of the Garden Project at the Stark County Jail

Once again in 2010, Meals On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties will benefit from the garden project at the Stark County Jail.

Inmates at the jail, under supervision of officers and guided by the OSU Extension office in Massillon and the Stark County Farm Bureau, are planting and cultivating the garden. When the produce is harvested, it will be donated to Meals On Wheels for use in dishes prepared for clients of the agency.

Inmates started some of the garden from seeds this month. Planting will continue in the week ahead. Like many gardens in the region, things are a little behind because of the wet conditions that have prevailed this spring.

Our New Box Truck Has Arrived

Our new 12-foot box truck has arrived and is being prepared for our delivery needs. It is pictured here before any logos or graphics have been applied to the side panels.

The truck was made possible in part by a generous grant from the Walmart Foundation, along with additional funding from our neighbors at the J.M. Smucker Company of Orrville.

We're excited about the arrival of the truck and look forward to putting it into service soon.
